Abstract:

Pb and Cd in water samples were determined by cloud point extraction (CPE) with sodiumdiethyldithiocarbamate (DDTC) as the chelating agent and octylphenoxypolyethanl (Triton X-114) asthe surfactant prior to flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) determination. The main factorsof affecting the extraction and detection processes were optimized. The preconcentration of 10 mL ofstandard solutions gave enhancement factors of 35 and 75 and the detection limits of 9.41 and 0.40ng mL-1 for Pb and Cd, respectively. The proposed method was applied satisfactorily to thedetermination of Pb and Cd in seawater and lake water. Good agreement was obtained between theadded and measured analyte amounts through the recovery of experiments.

Determination of Trace Copper(II) in Food Samples by Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry after Cloud Point Extraction

A new method for the determination of trace copper(II) in food samples by Cloud Point Extraction(CPE) combined with Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry(FAAS) is presented and evaluated. The method is based on the fact that hydrophobic complex of copper(II) with sodium diethyldithiocarbamate (DDTC) was formed at pH 6.0 and subsequently the hydrophobic complex was extracted into surfactant-r...

Simultaneous cloud-point extraction of nine cations from water samples and their determination by flame atomic absorption spectrometry.

The cloud-point methodology was successfully employed for the preconcentration of heavy metal cations at trace levels from aqueous samples prior to flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). Cations were taken into a complex with 8-quinolinol in an aqueous non-ionic surfactant, Triton X-114, medium and concentrated in the surfactant rich phase by bringing the solution to the cloud-point tempe...

Preconcentration and determination of palladium water samples by ionic liquid - dispersive liquid liquid microextraction combined with flame atomic absorption spectrometry

A simple, rapid and efficient dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction by use of ionic liquid (IL-DLLME)method, followed by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) was developed for the preconcentrationand determination of palladium in water samples. In this method, an appropriate mixture of acetone and octylmethyl imidazolium hexafluorophosphate was injected rapidly into the aqueous sample...
